Dr David Lewis

Experienced General Surgeon. Originally from the Tamworth region. Dr Lewis began his medical career with a Science degree at the University of Sydney and his Medical degree, MBBS, at the University of Queensland. From there he worked in the major hospitals of Brisbane and North Queensland completing his Surgical training and was awarded a Fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal Australian College of Surgeons. He has been operating at Tamworth & Gunnedah Base Hospitals and Tamara Private Hospital since 2014. David has a special interest in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery of the abdomen for addressing conditions including bowel cancers, hernias and gallbladders. Through his work with the local BreastScreen Clinic David is involved with the diagnosis and surgical treatment of breast cancers. He also has an interest in reconstructive surgical treatment for advanced skin cancers. Dr Lewis is a member of Australia New Zealand Metabolic and BreastSurgANZ, Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA).

Together with his family David enjoys country life here in Tamworth and is committed to providing quality local surgical care for our region.
